I was educated in Nottingham, leaving school at sixteen. I spent twenty-seven years as a police officer, the majority as a Detective Sergeant within the Specialist Operations Command, in London. I specialised in Child Protection and was part of a Major Investigation Team that targeted abusers and investigated murder. My last seven years were in the Covert Policing Command where I managed a specialist covert unit dedicated to the detection and disruption of organised criminal networks across London and the UK.
Rubicon is my debut novel and Stoned Love the second in the series. Fools Gold is for publication in 2020.
Rubicon is in development with the BBC for a six part TV series.
I appeared at Bloody Scotland in 2018 as a spot light author on the opening night with Val McDermid and Denise Mina.
I've undertaken a mentorship with Write4Film Scotland and in the process of developing a script for film. I'm also an ambassador for Muscular Dystrophy UK and  live in Scotland where I divide my time between family, writing, reading and photography.
